Did you know that Italian is considered one of the most melodious languages in the world? Even a simple “buongiorno” (good morning) or “ti amo” (I love you) can feel like a serenade to the soul.
The year 2018 marked the beginning of our love story with Italy, as we were introduced to this beautiful land. We travelled through the romantic canals of Venice, visited Padua, lost ourselves in the timeless romance of Verona, and end up by the beauty of Lake Garda. From that moment on, Italy captivated our hearts, becoming our beloved and recurring destination, forever calling us back to explore.
Italy beckons with a symphony of stories whispered by ancient ruins, soul-inspiring renaissance masterpieces, and charming cobblestone streets that invite aimless wandering.
From the iconic landmarks of Pisa and Florence to the historic wonders of Rome and Perugia, our trip was a kaleidoscope of colours and flavours and what would be a better way to culminate our Italian odyssey than in the breathtaking Amalfi Coast…
Our journey began in the lovely town of Maiori, nestled along the mesmerizing Amalfi Coast. As we explored the charming streets and witnessed the breathtaking views, we knew that our adventure had just begun. We wandered hand in hand, basking in the warm sunset glow, and lost ourselves in the magic of the town.
The following morning, we set off early to our next destination – Scala. As we arrived, memories of our childhood hometown flooded our minds. The simplicity of life in this tiny town, with its local pharmacy, butcher, cafe, and few restaurants run by friendly locals, filled us with a sense of nostalgia. We soaked in the calmness of people leisurely strolling and relished their kind gestures that reminded us of the past. That day reminded us about the importance of living in the moment and cherishing every second of our lives. Time seemed to fly by, and we realised how often we forget to embrace the present fully. But that day, we vowed to live life to the fullest and create beautiful memories that would last a lifetime.
Our journey reached its final destination, Positano. Our hotel offered the most spectacular view imaginable, and Positano quickly stole our hearts…Breathtaking panoramic views, beautiful beaches and a romantic and idyllic atmosphere, a place of a pure Italian Dolce Vita.
One early morning, we decided to embark on a breathtaking ride along the Amalfi Coast in a vintage yellow Fiat 500. The wind in our hair, the laughter in our hearts, and the endless beauty around us made it a moment we would cherish forever. At a scenic overlook, as the sun began to rise, he looked into my eyes and his voice trembled as he asked the question that changed everything: “Will you marry me?” Overwhelmed with joy and love, tears streaming down my cheeks, I whispered the only word that mattered: “Yes!”
That moment became etched in our hearts as a symbol of our love and Positano became a place of significance, our special sanctuary of love.
To keep the memories alive, we created an Amalfi Coast candle, capturing the scents of lemons, oranges, and bergamot. Lighting it brought back the flood of emotions from that magical day, reminding us of the love we share and that the most cherished memories are often born from the simplest moments.
